Thingyan Rain

Inspired by a song called "Thingyan Rain" I illustrated a girl mourning in the paduak flowers as in the lyrics, the gothic original character is used for Myanmar's new year, instead of the signature yellow dresses, according to Burmese culture, black is an unlucky colour,I wanted to show that despite the time being a lively new year, Myanmar's people are still suffering in every way, added the water because there were floods around this time last year as well, she's dressed up like Myanmar's people enjoying this year's Thingyan festival but shows no signs of happiness, instead, she's mourning for the lost beauty of Thingyan festival because of COVID-19, Military coup, floods, earthquakes, the lighting choice is a warm evening when the flowers fall off after blooming for once a year to give it a nostalgic feeling.
